Forming a new compound - East Coast (Virginia)

HI All,

I am a fan of HBO's Big Love and think it accurately reflects the life to a degree....I am in the process of purchasing a large farm in
VA and was wondering if there was any interest in making a modern settlement to be occupied by like minded individuals...The area would be between Richmond, Va and Charlottesville, VA....Would be very nice and reasonable / affordable to get in....I am in negotiations for the farm now...It can be subdivided and is fairly private yet within 7 miles or so of a town / shopping....Country yet convenient....I feel it can't be beat. Any interest / investors out there?

Note this may be crazy BUT I am also in the process of making jewelry that would be understood and recognized as a sign of ones leaning towards the lifestyle....Tasteful, yet to those in the know, or those interested in becoming a part of the lifestyle a sign of invitation or welcome.

Andrew

"compound"

I believe government and law enforcement agencies apply the word "compound" to religious and to polygamous communities, as well as to others they intend to close, for the purpose of setting the public's mind to seeing these groups as militant, as having a siege mentality, and as being based on some militant radical idea rather than on a less conformist, peaceful life-style. If I hear something referred to in the media as a "compound", I figure the heat is being turned up to "investigate" it, arrest the adults, break up the families, and burn the buildings to the ground. I would prefer words such as you used -- "settlement" -- or "church grounds", or "seminary with residences", or "pastoral hamlet", or whatever doesn't allow for interpretation as political, radical, militant, or besieged.

I was thinking of something

I was thinking of something along the same lines, but in Tennessee rather than Virginia. I would love to talk more about this with whomever is interested.

Hello

Oh, that sounds very nice and sounds like it would be peaceful. And I would love the jewelry as well. Very nice idea. Just message me back and we can talk!
