Biblical Families

It looks like the place for links to other sites is getting filled with discussion topics.

Biblical Families is a Christian site, and interprets that term Christian in a more narrow sense then this site.
LDS members are asked to disclose their religion in their signature, so others are aware of that member's religious perspective.

They do have regular retreats so poly minded folk can fellowship in real life, and a lot of good hearted sincere members.

The Texas events myself. Should be interesting to see how the faithful react to a heratic family in their midst. Hopefully well.

Ahh yes, Texas

I have heard good things about those retreats.
Our personal experience has been limited to one day at the Phoenix AZ retreat a few years ago.
The people we met were neat folks, but definitely more main stream (for lack of a better way to put it) in their practice and doctrine of Christianity then we are.
Polygyny is only one of the ways we don't fit into the church world.
The advantage to not belonging to a denomination is they cannot kick us out, and we can still enjoy friendship, and fellowship with people from all circles....or out of those circles.
I don't know that we will be able to make any of those Texas events....but I'm sure I'd enjoy them.

We have high hopes...

That things will go well and that we will be able to do fellowship even without the religion being a common touch point.

I hope that it all exceeds your expectations!

I suspect your wives have a sort of community just among themselves, but if any of them is interested in visiting with me, myself, or I.... I would be very happy to get to know them.....me will make time.....and myself promises to be friendly and sociable (if occasionally silly )

I'm a first and only wife, so I wear many hats. I'm mom to a houseful, and we are rural living people.

We're in central AZ, so probably limited to messaging or talking on the phone, but it can still be nice.

We do have a strong belief in God, and love to study the Bible, but we are not members of any church, and have many friends that do not claim any religion. Indeed, our friends that don't go to church, generally treat us better then the folks that do.

So please let them know I'm here.....if they have the time or inclination.

Many thanks!  Jolene

Very true Pluto.

We love word studies, and the most recent one we've done was studying how the words Satan, Adversary, Devil, Devils and such are used scripturally. It was very interesting to say the least.

It never ceases to amaze me, how different christianity can be, from the contents of the Book it is supposed to be founded on.

So many commonly accepted doctrines have no scriptural foundation whatsoever.

The word church is actually a word with a totally different root from ecclesia. An ecclesia was actually a civil body politic, or a community that was not under the jurisdiction of the civil authorities. The Apostles got in trouble in those early days for preaching a new KING! Not a new church, or religion.

Nowdays many professing christians (and even ministers) are disciples of Baal, and they are just completely ignorant of it.

One must define terms, or there can be no communication, or understanding.

Mistranslations and errors in the KJV. One must indeed study to show oneself approved. Yahweh does not want the slothful or lazy. Might I recommend the new Aramaic translation? It's just the NT and Psalms at this date, but eventually will be complete..

Sounds interesting. We have a copy of "The Scriptures" published by Institute For Scripture Research. They render the names of The Father and Son in the original Hebrew letters, and remove all the names of pagan gods. Other Hebrew names are transliterated, which changes the overall feel of the book a great deal. It is the old and new testaments, but does not include the other books like macabees.

We also have an interlinear Greek new testament, and other versions we read and compare in our studies.

Thanks for the recommendation Pluto!

Oh, I so enjoy what I am reading here

About 9 years or so ago I began a most wonderful expedition. I was drawn to study the original lnaguages, both Hebrew and Greek, of the scriptures. What I found was so much to the contrary of the traditons I had been taught. Since then I have written much on my findings. I am the living example of the man who went past a field and saw something there and sold everything to buy the field. Now I am learnign to excavate all the riches located in it.

Along with that study I was confirmed in what I had been thinking for a long time that poly families are scriptural and blessed of Father; that monogomy is only one way but not the only way. I am a very sharing and giving man. I have sensed in my heart that I was meant to be husband to more than one wife for many years. My wife also has seen the blessing it would be to have a sister (or sisters) by her side. We are missionaries and she really desires to have those close, deep friendships that come in like minded people.

What makes it even more difficult is I am the pastor of a small congregation that is striving to walk in the narrow way. While we all accept that the poly life is scriptural getting to the point where the single ladies or single mom's are willing to live in a poly realtionship is another thing. The threat of the cultural biases weighs heavy on that decision.

I look forward to making friends here. If for nothing else than an a place to talk openly.
